Tie & Dye work is a process of hand-dyeing fabric, in which sections of the fabric are tightly bound, as with thread, to resist the dye solution. The process of tie and dye is believed to have originated in Bengal in India and spread through Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.
Tie-and-dye is the process in which sections of the fabric are tightly bound, as with thread, to resist the dye solution. The technique is believed to have originated in India and reached Europe though trade routes from Asia.
The process starts by tying off sections of the fabric with thread. The dyed threads are then pulled out, leaving dye on the fabric. This process is repeated until the desired pattern is complete or the dyeing has reached its maximum depth.
